First, since I’ve gotten the most inquiries about the Turina miniatures, I wanted to clarify the status of that piece. It will be made available on the 1st of January 2024 (the piece was written in 1929, plus 95 years for entry in the public domain). If you want a “preview”, check out the premiere performance. There are some differences between this version and what will actually be published, for reasons that will be explained in the appendices, but it still gives a good idea of how the piece will sound. Edit 1 Jan 24: This work is now available
I’m also putting the finishing touches on an edition of the Brahms Etudes for Trumpet/Horn. This edition will primarily be geared towards trombone players, with versions of each etude for tenor and alto trombones. I will, however, include treble clef versions in the original keys as an appendix because previous editions of these etudes are severely lacking. Edit 15 May 24: I think I should have this published by the end of the summer. I’m waiting on one person’s contribution to the edition, at which point I will send it off to the presses.
Lastly, a few compositions — I’ve completed a first draft for a trio for Piano, Eb Clarinet, and Alto Trombone which I think is quite good! I’ll put it up here as soon as a more final version is complete, I anticipate playing the premiere on my next recital in March or April of 2024. I’m also working on something for the ITA octet composition competition and am finally starting to put some of the sketches for works for wind band on paper.
