You can listen to the album here.
To put it simply: these are two of the greatest pieces of chamber music in the Romantic era, and both recordings in this album are excellent. The Franck transitions fluidly between dreamy lyricism and explosive intensity, and the Brahms effectively conveys the weighty atmosphere of the piece. At the end of the day, I really don’t have that much to say about this album besides go listen to it.
I could turn this into a short essay about how trombone players don’t listen to enough chamber music and such — this is probably true but it’s not worth rehashing this point since I already make it very often. Any time you could spend reading such a rant would be better spent listening to the above album.
